| Abstract: | Records are given of Tabanidae from the marshes of Azraq Oasis, the only permanent body of water in the Jordanian desert, where livestock is both reared and brought in from other areas for water and grazing. The species collected were Tabanus autumnalis brunnescens Szil., T. polygonus Wlk. and Atylotus pulchellus (Lw.), collected frequently in May-July 1973-76 on camels, horses, cattle and donkeys, and Haematopota minuscula Aust., collected on man in May-June 1976. All these species were absent from the area in winter and early spring. Notes on their geographic distribution are given from the literature. |
