| Abstract: | Haematopota scutellata (Olsuf’ev, Moucha & Chvala), which was represented by a subspecies described from the adult female as H. s. rossica subsp. n., was found for the first time in the central region of the European part of the Soviet Union (the Upper Volga basin), bringing the number of species of the genus known there to five. The typical subspecies of H. scutellata occurs mainly in Central Europe, but there is another subspecies, H. s. pontica (Olsuf’ev), in the Caucasus. The distribution of these subspecies is shown on a map, and a key is given to the females of the forms from central European Russia. |
