| Abstract: | Three Malaise traps baited with carbon dioxide flowing at the rate of 2 ml/min were used for the collection of Tabanids for a year in a "miombo" woodland dominated by Julbernardia globiflora and Brachystegia spicaeformis in Zambia. A total of 3587 Tabanids comprising 5 species of Tabanus and 7 of Haematopota were collected. T. taeniola P. de B. was the most abundant species of Tabanus. Other insects trapped included Glossina morsitans morsitans Westw., other Muscoid flies, Asilids, Tachinids, Lepidoptera, Orthoptera and Hemiptera. |
