| Abstract: | In a survey of the tabanids of the Koalib Hills area of the Nuba Mountains, Sudan, 5 species were recorded, the females of all of which fed on cattle. The commonest was Tabanus taeniola P. de B. The females of this species also attacked camels and horses. Notes are given on the habits of the adults and the breeding places of this species and, more briefly, on those of Atylotus agrestis (Wied.) and A. fuscipes (Ric.). The other species recorded were Philoliche magrettii (Bez.) and Ancala latipes (Macq.), of which only females were seen. |
