| Abstract: | A second successive year, in 1969, of intensive study at Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, Maryland [cf. RAE/B 58, 1694], yielded 4807 examples of Tabanids representing 37 species; there were 17 of Chrysops, 14 of Tabanus and 6 of Hybomitra. Forty-three species in 3 genera were collected in the 2-year study. The 1968 and 1969 faunas were very similar, only 9 species being collected in only 1 year (6 of these represented by 1 specimen). H. lasiophthalma (Macq.), C. pudicus O.-S., C. montanus O.-S., C. vittatus Wied., C. flavidus Wied., and C. callidus O.-S. were the most abundant species in both years. |
