Abstract:

The results are given of surveys begun in 1966 on the Tabanids of the Southern Darfur Province of the Sudan, north of Bahr El Arab. Among the 6914 individuals caught were seven species (Ancala latipes (Macq.), Atylotus agrestis (Wied.), A. fuscipes (Ric.), Philoliche magrettii (Bez.), Tabanus biguttatus Wied., T. gratus Lw. and T. taeniola P. de B.). The distribution of these species in the three ecological zones of the survey area is indicated, and brief mention is made of the breeding places of some of them.
