Abstract:

Mouthparts of female of Mycteromyia conica (Bigot) were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and their structures are herein described. There are absence of mandibles. The laciniae has no sclerotized teeth. The labrum without micropilosity ventral surface very convex, The hypopharynx very thin and with long micropilosity. The morphology of mouthparts show that M. conica (Bigot) is a nectarophagous species.
