| Abstract: | In this review, the diversity of arthropod anticoagulants and their role in haematophagy and potential implications for parasite transmission are examined. Following a discussion of the significance of coagulation in bloodfeeding, there are sections on: Culicidae, Glossinidae, Simuliidae, Ceratopogonidae, Tabanidae, Muscidae, Triatominae, Cimicidae, Ixodidae, Argasidae, convergent evolution, and implications for parasite transmission. |
