Abstract:

A total of 76 species of Tabanidae have been recorded from Maine, USA, with another 11 expected to occur. This publication describes the life histories and economic importance of Maine’s tabanid fauna, and the collection methods used in this study. Distribution records, pest status and ecological information is given for each species. The peak periods of activity of man-biting tabanids in Maine are tabulated.
