| Abstract: | A study was conducted in 1987 and 1988 to examine the seasonal distribution and frequency of nulliparous sperm positive horseflies at the Pine Tree Experiment Station, Colt, Arkansas. Of all species examined, 99% were sperm positive. Parous flies were more abundant in 1987 than nulliparous flies. In 1988, nulliparous flies were the most abundant. The proportion of nulliparous T. subsimilis and T. lineola was significantly correlated with collection date in both years. The proportion of nulliparous flies peaked early in the flight season, declined in mid-August, and increased near the end of the season in both years. |
