Abstract:

21 species of tabanids were recorded in the southeastern and western areas of the Evensk Autonomous Region, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Russia. 18 species and 1 subspecies of Chrysops (3 species) and Hybomitra were present in the middle boreal forest zone and most of these species were also found in the northern boreal forest; H. pavlovskii, H. ciureai, H. muehlfeldi and H. bimaculata were absent whilst Atylotus fulvus fulvus and Haematopota pluvialis were found only in the northern boreal forest. C. makerovi was found for the first time in Evenka. The seasonal and daily patterns of tabanid activity and the effect of environmental factors on the intensity of attacks on man and reindeer are described.
