| Abstract: | Fourteen species of Tabanidae were examined in 3 small collections from Sabah, Malaysia (North Borneo) and south-eastern Borneo (Indonesia). Five new species, Haematopota quadrifenestrata sp. nov., Tabanus atratoides sp. nov., T. atropilosus sp. nov., T. samawangensis sp. nov. and T. transversus sp. nov., are described from Sabah, and one new species, T. atristylatus sp. nov., is described from south-eastern Borneo. Two species, T. brevicallus and T. stantoni are recorded from Sabah for the first time. Chrysops translucens, known from Sarawak and Brunei in northern Borneo, is here recorded from Sabah. Collection records are summarized, and observed variation in taxonomic characters is discussed. |
