| Abstract: | A faunal survey of blood sucking tabanid flies was performed with NZI traps on Rishiri and Rebun Islands, Hokkaido, Japan from 25 to 27 July 2008. Tabanus nipponicus (Murdoch and Takahasi) and Haematopota tristis Bigot were captured from Rishiri Island and Hybomitra olsoi Takahasi from Rebun Island. Since no large mammalian species except human beings are available for blood sucking by tabanid flies on both islands, the origin of the anautogenous T. nipponicus individuals is a subject of keen interest for future studies. |
