Abstract:

Tabanus tokaraensis sp. n. is described from adult females collected on 3 islands in the Tokara group, Japan. Characters are given by which it can be distinguished from the closely related species T. rufidens. A key to the 10 Japanese species of the group of T. rufidens is given.
