| Abstract: | During a survey in 1978-81 in an area of north-central Oklahoma characterised by scrubby oaks and grasslands, 23 species of tabanids in 7 genera were collected, of which Tabanus abactor Philip was the most abundant and the most severe pest of cattle; 6 further species of Tabanus and of Hybomitra were also very common, and at least one of these species was present from mid-April to October. Peak numbers of all species combined occurred in June and July. |
