Abstract:

Atylotus takaraensis sp. n. is described from the adult male and female. This tabanid was collected on Tokara Is., Japan and characters are given by which it can be distinguished from A. kakeromaensis Hayakawa, Tak. & Suzuki. A key, based on the adults, to the 11 Japanese species of the genus is provided.
