Abstract:

Collection records are given for male tabanids caught in flight, on the ground or on the inflorescences of wild flowering plants in the mountain pastures of Combes in the Hautes-Alpes, France. The species caught in flight were Philipomyia aprica (Mg.), Hybomitra caucasica (End.) and H. montana (Mg.); the same species and also Tabanus bromius L. were caught on the soil; and the species collected from flowers included males of all 4 species and also males and females of T. bromius and T. glaucopis Mg. Flight times, behaviour and habits are given for each species.
