Abstract:

The frequency and periods of occurrence are given of 29 species of tabanids in the genera Chrysops (15 species), Hybomitra (6), Tabanus (6) and Atylotus (2 species) that were collected as adults in the vicinity of a cattail (Typha spp.) marsh at lac Boivin, Granby, Quebec, in 1978. The most characteristic species appeared to be C. aberrans Philip, C. aestuans Wulp, C. mitis O.S. and C. sackeni Hine. Eleven species had a flight period of more than 6 weeks.
